Not Written in the Stars

Right from the start the signs were there

A hairline crack

An infinitesimal fissure

A flaky fragment of paint fluttering down to earth

In her newfound state of euphoria and bliss

Some hormone buoyed her

Sweet like chocolate kiss

She chose to ignore the clues

Shut out her sixth sense

Brushed off the boyish banter

Discounted some clumsy clinch

Scorned the seeds of doubt

But, in time the hairline crack cleft

No serotonin left

Warp without weft
